In 2007, Paul Litherland was awarded a Pride of Australia Medal for his support and volunteer work for the Mater Christi Catholic Primary School community, after the murder of Sofia Rodriguez Urrutia-Shu. Sofia was a student at the school which was also attended by a child of Paul. Paul was also struggling with his own demons, having been seriously injured and almost killed when run over by a car on the Kwinana Freeway 2 years earlier whilst working as a Police Officer. This article marks the 10 year anniversary of the awards and of the great people who contribute so much to our society.
